Medline Industries announced this week that it will open a national sales support center in Libertyville, Ill., to bring nearly a dozen teams from multiple locations under one roof.
When the 140,000-square-foot space support center opens later this year, it will house functions supporting hospitals, nursing homes, physician offices, labs, hospice and home care. Medline said it is investing $14 million in upgrades as it begins its 10-year lease.
Most of the 600 employees who will work in this national sales support hub will be relocating from the company’s Northfield, Ill., headquarters and its Mundelein, Ill., business campus. Both locations have reached capacity, and the move also enables each site to allow for the addition of new roles and functions in the future, according to Medline.
“Increasingly, healthcare providers look to Medline for customized solutions,” said company CEO Charlie Mills in a news release. “We’ve expanded the teams that create, design and support our customers, and this investment in Lake County is the next step in creating a center of collaboration that focuses on making healthcare run better,”
The company already has a distribution center in Libertyville, and two small distribution centers, a factory and a sterilization plant in Waukegan, Ill. Medline said it has increased the number of jobs in the Chicagoland area by 34% in the last 3 years, growing from more than 3,450 local employees at the end of 2017 to 4,650 as of January 1, 2020.
Medline said it is now the primary distributor at nine of the top 21 hospitals listed on the U.S. News & World Report’s 2019-20 Best Hospital Honor Roll.
