The only FDA-authorized daytime therapy for snoring and mild sleep apnea

Category: Health, Medical and Biotech
Subcategory: Advanced Therapeutics

From the winners: “eXciteOSA is the first FDA-authorized, non-invasive daytime therapy that targets a root cause of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring by improving the endurance of the tongue muscle. It’s clinically proven to reduce OSA and snoring in six weeks. The therapy combines a digital platform to foster patient adherence, a device, and the expertise of a Sleep Advocate team.”

“eXciteOSA founders were empathic to patients struggling with conventional treatment options like CPAP. Wanting to disrupt this dependence on products worn during sleep, they developed the first daytime treatment for sleep-disordered breathing. Our technology combines two concepts to create a new approach to sleep disturbance. The first concept cited research where patients with OSA have a genioglossus (tongue) that exhibits less endurance. The next concept proved neuromuscular electrical simulation applied to skeletal muscles showed an improvement in muscle endurance. Combining the research areas introduced a patient-friendly daytime therapy.”

“eXciteOSA addresses one of the root causes of sleep-disordered breathing and is disrupting the standard of care in sleep apnea. It’s the only sleep apnea treatment focusing on treating a root cause – not just temporarily opening the airway like CPAP. That means it’s the only therapy on the market that allows a patient to breathe naturally on their own — all night long.”

“The therapy combines the power of a digital platform to foster patient adherence, a device, and the expertise and support of our Sleep Advocate team. This combination of technology, device, and support from a dedicated team drives high therapy adherence and better sleep.”
