Ultrasonic air-in-liquid detectors
TE Connectivity’s AD-101 is an ultrasonic sensor that can detect bubbles 4 µl and larger in IV lines.
The sensor can be used in infusion pumps, dialysis machines, apheresis, auto-transfusion and 3D printing applications, said Pete Smith, senior manager of product and knowledge and training for TE Connectivity Sensor Solutions.
The AD-101 features bubble detection from a 1 mm tube, integral electronics, occlusion option, fluid differentiation and 3.3 and 5 V input options.
When an air bubble passes through the sensor, the housing lights up to alert the user.
“Patient safety is a key word in the medical world,” Smith said.
