PolyOne GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers, in collaboration with Philips has developed an effective, durable and safe material to create sealing disks that allow mothers to convert their Philips AVENT bottles into breast milk storage containers. By selecting this high-performance material, Philips can accelerate final product compliance and get to market faster.
Supplying Philips customers demand, PolyOne material delivers the performance qualities and meets food safety compliance. Meeting regulatory compliance was key to the selection of Versaflex FFC material, which complies with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) rigorous 21 CFR 177.2600 standard governing use of TPE materials intended for repeated contact with fatty foods. In addition, it meets the composition requirements for plastics identified in Commission Regulation EU No 10/2011, as well as China’s similar GB 4806.1-94 standard. The material also complies with Europe’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
Versaflex FFC TPEs are practical solutions for products that require repeat refrigeration, re-heating, storage and sterilization at elevated temperatures. Other applications include kitchen utensils, such as flexible spatulas and blender covers, gaskets for food storage containers, baby bottle seals and nipples, and similar food contact items.
