MEI Development Acquires Oncology Group; Names Founder as Head of Oncology Division

October 26, 2010 By Bio-Medicine.Org

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ — Florida-based MEI
Development Corporation, a subsidiary of The MEI Healthcare Group
(MEI), has acquired Georgia-based Oncology Business Advisory Group
(OBAG) and named one of OBAG’s founding partners, Cathy Putnick, as
head of MEI Oncology Services.  MEI is a leader in the
oncology and diagnostic imaging industries, providing complete
management of all aspects of adding and updating imaging
technology, including financing.  MEI’s Oncology Services
business will continue to be based in Coral Springs, Fla.

“Cathy, a respected leader in the oncology field, provides
physician groups and hospital executives with the input and
guidance needed to build and operate successful oncology centers,”
said Gordon Baltzer, chief executive officer of MEI.  “Adding
Cathy’s talents and the respected OBAG name to our team brings
great benefits to our growing oncology services division.”

Putnick has more than 24 years of experience in the oncology
field.  Prior to starting OBAG, she served as the chief
operating officer for Oncare Inc., a physician group management
company with 36 radiation and medical oncology facilities across
the United States.

“MEI is well respected in the marketplace,” said Putnick.
“I welcome the opportunity to lead its oncology services
division and provide imaging and oncology solutions for their
physician and hospital clients.  Combining our expertise with
MEI’s unique ability to develop, finance and market projects will
create an even greater portfolio of services to offer our
clients.”

MEI works with physicians, outpatient facilities and hospitals
that are interested in adding and updating radiotherapy and imaging
technology.  MEI manages all aspects of a project, including
determining project viability, creation and implementation of
business planning, procurement of capital equipment, complete
project financing and marketing and branding services.
