Sarstedt, Germany-based MeKo specializes in high-precision laser material processing, with more than three decades of experience with laser cutting, laser drilling and laser welding of metals and other materials. MeKo also offers metal 3D printing and post-processing services such as heat treatment, electropolishing, and mechanical processing.
Meko works with nitinol and standard alloys such as stainless steel, cobalt chromium, platinum-iridium, tantalum and titanium. MeKo also offers nickel- and cobalt-free Vasculoy, Resoloy bioresorbable magnesium alloy and PolyMediX high-precision polymer tubes with drug integration.
“This expansion strengthens MeKo’s presence in North America, bringing it closer to customers and further enhancing its ability to support complex medical device projects,” the company said in a news release. “With over 30 years of experience, MeKo has evolved into a highly specialized provider of medical components, including stents, heart valve frames, and other high-precision implants. The new U.S. location enables MeKo to provide local and immediate support to its American partners throughout all stages of the product lifecycle — from initial design and prototyping to full-scale production and optimization.”
Founded in 1991, the company now has more than 400 employees. MeKO said its U.S. team includes “a combination of U.S. natives and seasoned MeKo project managers, ensuring a deep understanding of both regional business practices and MeKo’s technical standards. This mix allows MeKo to bridge cultural and linguistic gaps while providing reliable, solution-oriented support to its American partners.”
MeKo already worked with Half Moon Bay, California-based sales and service provider Metallurgical Solutions, and says the new location will directly support customers in the eastern half of the U.S.
MeKo MedTech is set to exhibit at our DeviceTalks Boston show April 30-May 1, 2025.
