This 30W one-port midspan is being implemented into high power applications that implement IEEE’s 802.11N standard. Designated the POE30U Series, the midspan is designed to power wireless and WiMAX access points that require up to 24 watts of power. IEEE 802.11N, the new broadband wireless standard, has driven up access point power requirements beyond current IEEE802.3af standards. The midspan features diagnostic LEDs and the same safety and protection systems as with the IEEE 802.3af standard, including detection, disconnect, and overload control. The device is also Gigabit-compatible.
