Molex previously announced the opening of the Katowice campus in November. The facility’s initial 23,000 square-meter manufacturing space serves as a strategic central location to manufacture and deliver advanced medical devices for Phillips Medisize, a Molex company, as well as electric vehicle and electrification products for Molex customers. Molex’s ambitious growth plans for the facility include expansion to 85,000 square meters, further increasing Molex’s presence in Poland, which includes existing sites in Rokitki and Sulęcin.
“Achieving this first LEED Certification is an important step forward for our facility in Poland and underscores Molex and Phillips Medisize’s leadership in innovation, design and manufacturing,” said David Thoreson, VP of global operations, Phillips Medisize. “This milestone also demonstrates our commitment to environmental stewardship and lowering resource consumption in the development and manufacturing of innovative products.”
The Katowice campus complements existing Phillips Medisize operations in Poland and at six European manufacturing sites in Letterkenny and Sligo, Ireland; Struer, Denmark; and two locations in Kontiolahti, Finland.
LEED is the world’s most widely used building rating system recognizing significant environmental benefits.
“It provides a framework for healthy, highly efficient and cost-saving green buildings that offer environmental, social and governance benefits. Additional certifications and registrations for the phase 2 building at the Katowice campus are pending.” (gbci.org)
