The Charlton, Massachusetts-based, single-source manufacturer specializes in tooling, molding, automation, and metrology for minimally invasive medical devices and healthtech products.
“Customers today are more informed about micro molding than ever, asking detailed questions about equipment, process discipline, and technical capabilities,” Clark said in a news release. “What they’re looking for is what MTD has been developing for decades. This isn’t a new niche for us. We’re the ones who defined — and continue to redefine — what this work requires.”

Clark joined MTD in 2008 as a toolmaker and “became a key leader during a transformative period of expansion, overseeing the completion of the facility addition that doubled MTD’s manufacturing footprint,” the company said.
After more than 13 years at MTD he left in 2022 to join NyproMold, but returned to MTD in May 2026 as director of operations. The same month, MTD hired Chad Nikel as CEO, but now says Nikel “has resigned to pursue another opportunity.”
Clark started as CEO on June 10.

“John has carried that mentality throughout his career here,” Tully continued. “He doesn’t make promises he can’t keep, and he builds teams and processes that deliver on the ones he does. That’s the foundation of every customer relationship MTD has, and it’s why I trust him to lead this company Ever Forward.”
MTD says it produced 4 million components across 45 production molds in the first five months of 2026, “including tiny orthopedic implants with dead-sharp tips, thin-wall components for minimally invasive procedures, bioresorbable implants, and intricate multi-step overmolded devices.”
The company also says it has reactivated lab and testing equipment to advance its materials analysis capabilities for more precise polymer characterization across complex programs.
