Nelipak said today that it acquired a thermoforming company in Puerto Rico, Tegrant Alloyd Brands, from Sonoco for an undisclosed amount.

Cranston, R.I.-based Nelipak said Tegrant Alloyd, which makes rigid packaging, sells to medical device and pharmaceutical companies in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Based in Juncos, Puerto Rico, it will operate under the Nelipak Healthcare Packaging brand.

“We are thrilled to expand our global manufacturing footprint and gain greater access to the Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic healthcare markets with the acquisition of Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico,” president & CEO Mike Kelly said in prepared remarks. “This acquisition enables us to better support our global customers since many of them have operations in Puerto Rico. Additionally, the Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico’s team and customer base complement our current capabilities.”
