Mencom has announced new rectangular hoods for the wiring market called the BIG Series. The hoods feature larger dimensions compared to standard hoods with enclosures measuring up to 23mm wider and 34mm higher than standard enclosures. This provides more space, providing more room for larger cables and extra entry holes. However, despite the larger sizes, the hoods are still completely compatible with the existing connectors and accessories.
Designed with an upper and lower half, the hood compartment is connected by four screws with o-rings. This provides easy access when being assembled.
According to Mencon, “this feature also provides up to three times more space compared to the standard hoods. The big enclosures enable the connection of push button selectors, switches and signaling lamps after the necessary holes have been drilled.”
In other words, once the connector has been coupled, users can still enable power supplies or signal circuits.
The hood entry is available in one or more top and side entries and a closed enclosure that can be drilled. Hoods size 44.27 only fit with the single lever unlike the larger size hoods that fit bases with two levers.
“The BIG series is IP66 rated after the hood has been coupled with appropriate rectangular base and cable glands.”
