Newport introduces 2-inch, vertical drive mirror mount for industrial application

April 23, 2016 By Nic Abraham

unnamed (9)Newport Corporation, a worldwide leader in photonic solutions, expands its industry leading portfolio of opto-mechanics with the HVM-2i, a compact and robust vertical drive kinematic mount for 2 inch diameter optics. The HVM-2i features a unique ball-and-wedge drive mechanism that enhances the overall performance of the optical mount by reducing stiction and backlash to negligible levels. The drive mechanism also allows substantial angular tilt without adjustment screws protruding from the back of the mount, where space may be tight and fingers can block the optical path.

“With a thickness of just 0.82 inch, the HVM-2i can easily be integrated into optical setups that require optical mounts with a very small footprint”, says Rick Sebastian, Sr. Manager Product Marketing for opto-mechanics at Newport. “Thanks to Newport’s inline spring mechanism that provides a targeted tension at the appropriate points, the HVM-2i provides excellent uncompromising short-term and long-term stability in spite of its compact size.”

The HVM’s 80 TPI high resolution adjustment screws have a locking mechanism to prevent inadvertent adjustment, making them an ideal choice for industrial applications. The HVM-2i is available with 8-32 or M4 mounting. The Newport HVM series  also features vertical drive kinematic mounts for 0.5 and 1.0 inch optics.
