Nordson (NSDQ: NDSN) said it has acquired Clada Medical Devices, a Galway, Ireland-based design and development contract manufacturer primarily focused on balloons and balloon catheters.
The purchase will expand Nordson’s (Westlake, Ohio) balloon and balloon catheter capabilities with broader design, development and manufacturing capabilities, Nordson said in a statement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The move also further expands Nordson’s presence in Ireland. Nordson and MedPlast each acquired a piece of Vention Medical in 2017. Nordson paid $705 million in cash to acquire Vention’s advanced technologies division, which has locations in New Hampshire, Tennessee, Ireland, Minneapolis, Massachusetts, California, Colorado and Israel.

“Clada enhances Nordson Medical’s design and development capabilities, which further supports our position as a leading full-device solution and component manufacturing resource for OEM’s across the interventional and surgical medical device landscape,” said Jeffrey Pembroke, EVP of Nordson Advanced Technology Systems – Fluid Management, in the statement. “We are excited to welcome the Clada associates to the Nordson Medical family. We look forward to integrating their engineering expertise and enhancing our medical device offerings.”
Clada will become part of the Nordson Medical product line within Nordson’s advanced technology systems segment. Nordson engineers, manufactures and markets products and systems used to dispense, apply and control adhesives, coatings, polymers, sealants, biomaterials, and other fluids, to test and inspect for quality, and to treat and cure surfaces.
