Nypro has awarded Critical Manufacturing with a contract to provide manufacturing process management (MPM) with a manufacturing execution system (MES) for its shop floor-level operations, according to Porto, Portugal-based Critical Manufacturing.
The decision was based on the desire to eliminate manual processes associated with paper-based device and batch history records. The new system will sit between Nypro’s current product lifecycle management application and enterprise resource planning system and will be implemented across 15 plants.
“We have been strategically focused on helping medical device manufacturers to drive efficiency; meet demand for cost-effective, increasingly sophisticated and customized devices; and achieve easier compliance with regulations,” said Mohamed Benkirane, VP of medical device practice at Critical Manufacturing, in a news release. “Our modular MES is specifically designed with the capabilities to meet the needs of the MedTech manufacturing sector, deliver a pathway to Industry 4.0 and future-proof manufacturers in an era of constant change. We are delighted to be working with Nypro and look forward to helping them meet their operational goals.”
Critical Manufacturing’s MES is designed in configurable modules for straightforward implementation and flexible application, according to the company, which has a U.S. office in Austin, Texas.
