12th July 2011 – Ascribe is pleased to announce the ‘Go
Live’ of an enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) solution
launched under the banner of Octopus at University College London
Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). The Octopus system is a full
range of management information dashboards underpinning the
delivery of excellent clinical care.
Octopus provides the Trust’s senior decision makers with
the ability to examine key demand trends and performance indicators
in depth from their desktops. The solution spans across the
Trust’s A&E, referral, waitlists, outpatient, inpatient,
and diagnostic activity; at the same time it provides in-depth
revenue & activity positions against plan, ready for the
Hospital’s managers every Monday morning.

The release is a key one for the Trust in that it ensures it is
equipped to make better decisions that define the way the
organisation delivers its healthcare objectives. It is also a
significant milestone for Ascribe as we look to expand the BI
capability in all our Acute-facing products as the solution we have
developed can be easily adapted to meet other requirements on other
projects.
Speaking on behalf of the Trust, Simon Mortimore, Head of
Information Services at UCLH said, “Octopus is enabling this
Trust to draw valuable intelligence from the mass of raw data which
we collect each day, around 200 feeds. The data warehouse has been
constructed so that no information is lost or wasted. We can now
draw out performance, demand, and revenue information and support
the allocation of resources far more efficiently and ensure that we
continue to deliver excellent patient care. In addition we can
develop and deploy BI solutions much faster.”
“Ascribe is delighted to deliver the Octopus system to
UCLH. Working together with UCLH, we have a created a system that
draws upon multiple data sources and produces a coherent and clear
insight into their patient, clinical and management needs. We are
also seeing an increase in BI orders from the Health Sector for our
Business Intelligence solutions”, said Stephen Critchlow, CEO
of Ascribe Ltd.
