Omron Healthcare Introduces its HEAT Pain Pro™ TENS Device to Help Millions with At-Home Personal Pain Management

December 29, 2016 By PR Web

In an important development in pain management, Omron Healthcare Inc. today announced the arrival of its Omron HEAT Pain Pro™, an over-the-counter medical device that combines soothing heat and TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) technology to relieve acute muscle and joint pain.

Product developers at Omron Healthcare, a leading manufacturer of medical-grade home healthcare products, said the Omron HEAT Pain Pro™ represents an evolution in at-home TENS therapy. It is currently the only device on the market that combines TENS technology with heat – a combination used by physical therapists to maximize therapy effectiveness.

“Millions of Americans suffer from daily pain. Whether they are experiencing back pain, aching knees, joint pain or chronic discomfort, people are looking for more safe, effective pain management options,” said Carol Lucarelli, director of marketing and product development for Omron Healthcare, Inc. “Increased awareness of the potential dangers of opioids and prescription pain killers is driving more consumer interest in pain management options. The Omron HEAT Pain Pro™ is a safe, effective, accessible drug-free choice.”

The National Institute of Health has found that most American adults have experienced some level of pain, from brief to more lasting pain, and from relatively minor to more severe pain. In its analysis, more than half of American adults (126 million) reported some type of pain within the last three months, and more than 25 million reported chronic pain (pain every day for the preceding three months.)1

TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation) sends stimulating pulses across the surface of the skin and along the nerve strands. The pulses help prevent pain signals from reaching the brain. Electrical stimulation can also trigger the body to release endorphins, which act as natural painkillers.  TENS technology was previously accessible only through a visit to a doctor or health practitioner.

“Omron has more than 20 years of experience in pain management and we are constantly innovating to better meet the needs of consumers,” said Lucarelli. “Less than a decade ago, we were the first-to-market with an over-the-counter TENS medical device for use at home. Now we are leading the category once again with groundbreaking new technology.”

The versatile Omron HEAT Pain Pro™ offers 27 different combinations of heat and TENS modes and 20 different levels of intensity. It has pre-set therapy options for a variety of conditions and locations, including lower back, arm, leg, foot, shoulders and joints. Convenient for use at-home or at work, the device fits in the palm of the hand and includes clear instructions and an easy-to-use, large button interface.

The Omron HEAT Pain Pro™ is also low-maintenance and cost-effective with a rechargeable battery and gel pads which can be used for up to 30 times before requiring replacement.

The Omron HEAT Pain Pro™ is currently available prescription-free at Walgreens and CVS stores nationwide and can be purchased online at OmronHealthcare.com, Amazon.com, CVS.com and soon at Walgreens.com for a suggested retail price of $89.99.
