Midwest Interventional Systems (MIS) is planning an expansion one year after beginning operations at its R&D and manufacturing facility in Fridley, Minn.
The expansion will include the addition of quality, regulatory, operations, fulfillment, and distribution services. MIS also plans to expand on its existing extrusion, laser welding, laser cutting, and packaging capabilities. The company will lease a 30,000+-square-foot space for the expansion.
MIS was founded in June 2017, built out its existing 2,500-square-foot building with a Class 7-certified clean room and implemented and certified a custom ISO 13485:2016 Quality System. MIS has multiple ongoing projects ranging from design to manufacturing.
“The medical device outsourcing industry is evolving from multiple specialized vendors toward one-stop shops that can offer more than just a single or a few capabilities,” said MIS co-founder and CEO Adam Ahmad. “CMOs are more likely to win the business of a startup medical device company if they can offer wide-ranging services that extend into areas such as quality, regulatory, sterilization, and distribution.”
