Online nursing program allows flexibility, convenience

June 10, 2010 By Arizona State University

ASU will offer a new tuition rate for the fully online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Beginning in August, tuition for students enrolled in the entirely online RN-BSN program will be $325 per credit hour, excluding fees. Students can register now for the fall 2010 semester.

“We recognize that many nurses today would like to advance in their careers, but often find themselves limited by ongoing professional and family responsibilities,” said Diann Muzyka, associate director of ASUs RN-BSN programs. “Our online program offers nursing professionals the convenience, flexibility and affordability they need, and the education they deserve. Evidence-based practice, which is proven to improve patient care and outcomes, is at the very heart of this program and will position our graduates more competitively for increased career and compensation potential.”

“ASU is at the forefront of the movement to high-quality online learning,” said Philip Regier, dean of ASU Online. “Not only can online learning bridge the access divide, it can be more effective and engaging for many students. That is why we put quality first in the development of every online course. It is also why our students can proudly say that they earned an ASU degree.”

Available through the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, the new tuition rate applies to both resident and non-resident students and is more affordable than similar programs at other institutions. Students in the Maricopa Community College system can be eligible for a special RN-BSN Pathways program, with other advantageous tuition and credit opportunities.

Leading employment analysts project a large and sustained need for a well-educated nursing workforce over the next 20 years, particularly as the U.S. population ages. ASUs College of Nursing and Health Innovation has been recognized and acclaimed as one of the top nursing programs in the country and equips graduates for successful careers in nursing, healthcare and administration.

Enrollment applications and program details are available at http://asuonline.asu.edu.

ASU Online is one of five campuses in a university community that is ranked among the top 100 in the world. Dozens of undergraduate and graduate degree programs are now available fully online, each designed in close collaboration with ASUs faculty.
