Implantable spine products maker Osseus Fusion Systems (Dallas, Texas) said it has acquired SIJ Surgical.
SIJ Surgical’s SI screw system has distal cutting flutes, dual lead threads, and fenestrated, open implant architecture designed to improve osseointegration and reduce radiographic signature, according to Osseus.
“This is the first company acquisition for Osseus,” said company CEO Eric Hansen in a news release. “Osseus was founded with a bootstrap mentality of organic growth through in-house product development. However, based on the explosive growth of the SI fusion market, the acquisition of a cutting-edge SI fusion product made sense to position us as a front runner in this segment. We are extremely thrilled to add the Blue Topaz CompresSIve sacroiliac screw system to our product portfolio.”
Osseus Fusion’s other products include the Aries interbody fusion device, Black Diamond pedicle screw, White Pearl preferred angle anterior cervical plate, and the Gemini-C hybrid cervical interbody, which has porous titanium wafers and a radiolucent PEEK core.
