Pentax launches endobronchial ultrasound scope

December 18, 2019 By Danielle Kirsh

pentax-medicalPentax Medical this week said it launched its EB19-J10U Ultrasound Video Bronchoscope in the U.S.

The Ultrasound Video Bronchoscope is designed to provide clear ultrasound images of the airway wall, surrounding lymph nodes and adjacent structures. It is ergonomic to minimize stress on operator’s hands and features improved endoscopic visibility with a small ultrasound transducer that can be easily maneuvered.

“The new EB19-J10U offers a much larger field of vision, which, combined with high-quality ultrasound technology and Pentax video processors, allows for precise and excellent visualization and orientation in the airways,” Rocco Trisolini, a doctor in Bologna, Italy, said in a news release. “The ergonomic design with improved grip and wide operational channel are also impressive and greatly contribute to the ease of use and high level of maneuverability.”

Pentax Medical’s new EB19-J10U Ultrasound Video Bronchoscope gives physicians permanent visibility of the transducer in the endoscopic image. It is supported by a wide field of view of 75º and features a larger 2.2mm channel that accommodates a new generation of 19-gauge needles.

“EBUS is recognized as the gold standard for minimally invasive tissue acquisition in pulmonology. Combined with the state-of-the-art Hitachi Ultrasound Scanners, the EB19-J10U reaffirms our commitment to cutting-edge diagnostic and interventional pulmonology,” president and CEO of Pentax Medical Americas David Woods said. “Pentax is globally focused on innovations that not only help improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of care delivery, but also enhance our customers’s satisfaction. We think that the EB19-J10U is a significant building block for this strategy.”

The new bronchoscope is compatible with Pentax processors and Hitachi ultrasound scanners.
