Phillips-Medisize expands its global manufacturing capacity

October 19, 2021 By Sean Whooley

Phillips-MedisizePhillips-Medisize announced today that it expanded its global manufacturing capacity through several collaborations and internal initiatives.

Hudson, Wisconsin-based Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, said its global reach now encompasses 36 facilities with scalable, end-to-end capabilities tailored to help customers bring products to market quickly and efficiently from anywhere in the world.

“As the preferred partner for leading global customers, we continually invest in new talent and technologies that increase the capacity and capabilities of Phillips-Medisize across the entire value chain,” Molex president of medical & pharmaceutical solutions Paul Chaffin said in a news release. “Our expanded global reach and resources will enable us to solve complex development and manufacturing challenges while meeting escalating customer demands for more localized production, supply chain management and accelerated go-to-market strategies.”

Phillips-Medisize is building a state-of-the-art medical manufacturing facility in Katowice, Poland, to address growing production demands from customers in continental Europe. With production sites and innovation centers already in Asia, Europe, India, Mexico and North America, the latest addition in Poland is expected to open in 2022.

The company also has plans to expand production capacity in Suzhou, China, while transforming an existing Molex production facility in Little Rock, Arkansas to address increasing requirements in the U.S. for high-volume diagnostic device manufacturing. With growing new product introduction (NPI) teams at each of its sites, Phillips-Medisize expects to add at least 1,000 employees globally over the next couple of years as well.

In addition to its internal efforts, Phillips-Medisize confirmed that it entered into a strategic initiative with Credence MedSystems to ramp up production of the Credence Companion syringe system and dual chamber reconstitution systems at the Phillips-Medisize site in Letterkenny, Ireland, as well as at the new Poland facility.

“We’re excited to leverage Phillips-Medisize’s world-class manufacturing as we scale toward high-volume automation at the new state-of-the-art facility in Poland,” Credence MedSystems COO Jeff Tillack said. “The opportunity to scale production in close proximity to our operations and European customers will accelerate market delivery of our innovative solutions to meet the needs of our pharma customers and their end-users.”
