Polyplastics‘s Topas 8007S-0$ cyclic olefin copolymer (COC) is now being used in Tandem Diabetes Care‘s insulin delivery pumps.
The Tandem t:slim X2 Insulin Pump is one of the smallest pumps on the market. It is a continuous glucose monitor-enabled pump that lets users make decisions about their treatment without having to prick their finger to test glucose levels.
Tandem pumps feature precision-molded disposable cartridges that have several pars molded of Topas 8007S-04. The components have highly challenging tolerance levels and have multi-cavity tooling. They are also manufactured under strict performance qualifications, according to the company.
The company chose the medical-grade material Topas because of its purity, drug compatibility, biocompatibility and dimensional stability. Topas also delivers consistent, reproducible performance and helps with the miniaturization of drug delivery systems. It can also be molded with zero draft for maximum drug delivery precision.
Topas COC also offers a non-ionic, minimally reactive surface that does not promote adsorption, denaturation, aggregation or precipitation.
