Medtronic’s Solitaire X revascularization device is designed to restore blood flow and retrieves clots from occluded blood vessels in the brain for patients experiencing acute ischemic stroke (AIS) from a large vessel occlusion (LVO).

The company designed the revascularization stent device with a unique parametric design for dynamic clot integration and a differentiated radial outward force. It has complete visualization and its optimized delivery system produces a lower delivery force for procedural efficiency and smooth navigation, according to Medtronic.

Solitaire X is indicated for use to restore blood flow in the neurovasculature by removing thrombus for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke to reduce disability. It’s meant for patients with a persistent, proximal anterior circulation, large vessel occlusion and smaller core infarcts who have first received intravenous tissue plasminogen activator.
