Product Supply Agreement Reached for Organ Preservation in Transport

June 28, 2016 By Paragonix Technologies, Inc.

Paragonix Technologies, Inc. and Essential Pharmaceuticals, LLC signed a product supply agreement in which Essential agreed to supply its Custodiol HTK organ preservation solution for use with the SherpaPak cardiac and kidney transportation systems.

Sherpa Pak combines cooling technology with a safe, consistent method for cold ischemic storage and transport of donor organs to recipients for implantation.

The ability to kit SherpaPak with Custodiol HTK enables streamlined hospital acquisition logistics when stocking organ preservation technologies, according to Bill Edelman, CEO and chairman of Paragonix. The Paragonix Sherpa Pak devices for kidney and heart preservation are designed to improve donor organ transportation.

Custodiol HTK Solution is indicated for perfusion and flushing of donor kidneys, liver, pancreas and heart prior to removal from the donor or immediately after removal from the donor. The solution is left in the organ vasculature during hypothermic storage and transportation (not for continuous perfusion) to the recipient, as noted on www.custodial.com.
