RECOM launches 2W and 4W DC/DCs with 2MOPP/250VAC medical rating

September 25, 2024 By MDO Staff

NEWS RELEASE: 2W and 4W DC/DCs with Highest Level Medical Isolation

Gmunden, 25th September 2024 – RECOM debuts wide-input DC/DCs with 2MOPP/250VAC medical rating.

RECOM has launched new cost-effective DC/DCs with the highest level of medical isolation in through-hole and SMD formats. The REM2A and REM4A series rated 2W and 4W respectively, boast ‘reinforced’ 5kVAC/1 min isolation and 2MOPP rating at 250VAC with more than 8mm creepage and clearance. The parts also suit B, BF, and CF patient connect applications with their low 2µA leakage current.

The DC/DCs are available with 2:1 inputs: 4.5-12V, 9-18V, 18-36V, or 36-75VDC. Fixed, fully regulated DC outputs are: 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 24V, +/-5V, +/-12V, and +/-15VDC, also 3.3V in the REM2A series. The REM2A operates over ambient temperatures of -40°C to +90°C while the REM4A operates from -40°C to +80°C, both without derating at nominal inputs. With airflow or derating, the parts operate to +105°C ambient.

Full protection is provided against input under-voltage, output over current, over-voltage, and short circuits. An on/off control is also provided to shut down the DC/DCs for energy-sensitive applications.

Certifications held include IEC/EN/ANSI/AAMI 60601 3rd edition for medical safety and IEC/EN/UL62368-1 for IT and multimedia applications. The operation to 5000m is specified in pollution degree 2 environments. The renowned RECOM quality is built-in and both 2W and 4W ranges achieve over 5Mhrs MTBF at 25°C, GB, according to MIL-HDBK-217F.

“These DC/DCs are an economical solution when the highest grade of isolation is needed in medical and other safety-critical applications, especially when space is constrained and temperatures are high” comments Matthew Dauterive, MSc. DC/DC product manager of RECOM.

Parts include a three-year warranty. Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorized distributors or directly from RECOM.
