Rexroth NYCe Motion Control System

March 5, 2008 By Design World Staff

The NYCe 4000 motion control system has been optimized for semiconductor and medical applications. It already supports a variety of motors for flexible machine designs, such as linear and rotating servo motors and stepper motors, as well as the highly specialized direct drive piezo motors. With the introduction of the version 2.0 software Rexroth now also provides the capability of processing the original signal from high accuracy position measuring systems used by the NYCe 4000 controller — SinCos (based on a sine-cosine signal) and the EnDat 2.1 and 2.2 and Hiperface protocols, as well as the signals from encoders for the Panasonic Minas A4 motors which are favoured by Asian machine manufacturers in particular.

The 2.0 release of the motion control software is yet another step in extending the flexibility and freedom in programming high performance, accurate drives for precision OEM machine designs. The construction of specialized machines, such as those for the semiconductor and biomedical industries, sets high requirements on the speed and accuracy of the motors used, and therefore on the signal from accurate position measurement systems. The limits of the maximum achievable performance are being tested and extended time and again. This requires total freedom in the use and combination of drive elements for the machine. The new 2.0 version of the software for the NYCe 4000 system from Rexroth fully meets the requirement for freedom of choice in relation to the drive and the measuring system so that an optimal machine can be built.

Manufacturers now have total freedom in the selection of not only the motor but also the type of encoder that they consider to be the optimum solution for their application. The NYCe 4000 controller supports every choice, offering flexible, simple and fast control of all types of drives for the accurate positioning of machine parts, such as positioning stages for semi-conductor machines.
