STANLEY Healthcare, parent company of InnerSpace, a manufacturer of customized storage solutions for the healthcare industry, announced the Intelligent Locking System (ILS) for its 7000 Series Harmony Supply & Procedure Cart system. The ILS is a keyless entry solution that wirelessly links carts to a central computer—enhancing security and simplifying management across even the largest, most complex fleets of supply and procedure carts.
While proximity cards and security keypads eliminate the need for physical keys, managing cards and credentials across a large fleet and user population can be time consuming and inefficient. The ILS uses a wireless system to allow cart access programming and full management of user information and cart settings from a single ILS-integrated computer.
“Consider a fleet of 100 carts. If it takes two-and-a-half minutes to physically get to each cart for programming or upgrades, administrators would have to spend more than four hours each time they have to make changes to the fleet,” said Mark Roberts, storage and supply chain senior solutions manager for InnerSpace. “With the ILS, those same tasks can be completed on a single computer and pushed out to the fleet in minutes.”

Administrators can quickly edit user privileges, sending those changes to the entire fleet of carts through Wi-Fi.
Additionally, ILS provides alerts—from unauthorized entry to low battery status—and delivers audit trail reporting of the last 15,000 access attempts. Administrators can easily customize reports covering specific users in the database, number of access attempts and unauthorized users, as well as alert responses.
“The ILS is an innovative solution for combining secure access and controlling critical supplies,” Roberts said. “We’ve engineered it to save time and money and reduce risk, helping hospitals support critical goals around patient safety and operational efficiency. The potential benefits are even greater when hospitals combine our cart fleets with wireless solutions for real-time cart location, such as the RTLS Asset Tracking solution from STANLEY Healthcare.”
The system is available on all new 7000 Series Harmony carts and can also be easily added as an upgrade to existing 7000 Series fleets.
