TE Connectivity (NYSE:TEL) said today that it has closed on its previously announced purchase of Silicon Microstructures (Milpitas, Calif.) from Elmos Semiconductor AG (ELG.F).
The deal, which closed Sept. 30, combines SMI’s micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) sensor technology design and manufacturing capabilities with TE’s operational scale, customer base and existing sensors technologies. The result, according to TE, expands TE’s global position in pressure sensing technology, particularly in medical, transportation and industrial applications.
TE will report SMI as part of TE’s Sensor Solutions business.
