Teleflex announced today that it will sell its Teleflex Medical OEM contract manufacturing business to private equity firms Montagu and Kohlberg for $1.5 billion.
The planned sale was part of a total of $2.03 billion in divestitures in the works. Teleflex also said today that it will sell its Acute Care and Interventional Urology businesses to U.K.–based Intersurgical Ltd. for $530 million. (Medical Design & Outsourcing’s sibling site MassDevice has more details about the transactions.)
Company officials expect the deals to be completed in the second half of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. Montagu and Kohlberg plan to operate Teleflex Medical OEM as an independent global contract developer and manufacturer after the deal close, with the business’ present GM And President Greg Stotts serving as CEO.
“This is a momentous milestone for our team and our customers, and we are excited to work with the Montagu and Kohlberg team to shape the future of Teleflex Medical OEM. As a focused, independent company backed by experienced healthcare investors, we will accelerate investment in innovation, quality systems and capacity while continuing to deliver the reliability and engineering depth our customers expect,” Stotts said in a Montagu and Kohlberg news release.
According to Teleflex’s most recent annual report, the OEM portfolio includes the TFX Medical OEM, TFX OEM, Deknatel and HPC Medical brands. The OEM business provides custom extrusions, micro-diameter film-cast tubing, diagnostic and interventional catheters, balloons and balloon catheters, film-insulated fine wire, coated mandrel wire, conductors, sheath/dilator introducers, specialized sutures and performance fibers, bioabsorbable sutures, yarns, and resins.
Teleflex Medical OEM has over 40 years of experience developing and supplying custom-engineered interventional catheter components and sub-assemblies, as well as surgical fibers and sutures, used across fast-growing treatment areas such as structural heart, neurovascular, electrophysiology and urology. It utilizes advanced materials and precision manufacturing, with seven facilities across the U.S., Mexico, and Ireland.
