Medtronic CEO Geoff Martha touted a record number of Mazor robotic spine surgery system sales during the company’s Q3 earnings call in February — one of many positive signs for the world’s largest medical device company as it emerges from the pandemic. Medtronic is expanding capabilities for Mazor, which helps drive demand for the company’s spine implants in general.
Medtronic also further strengthened its orthopedic spine surgery platform offerings last year by purchasing France-based spinal surgery technology company Medicrea. “Medtronic will become the first company to be able to offer an integrated solution including artificial intelligence-driven surgical planning, personalized spinal implants and robotic-assisted surgical delivery, which will significantly benefit our customers and their patients,” Martha said.
