PK Papyrus covered coronary stent system
Biotronik
Biotronik’s PK Papyrus covered coronary stent is a balloon-expandable covered stent that is implanted into a coronary artery using a balloon catheter delivered system.
Berlin-based Biotronik designed the device to treat coronary artery perforations, or tears in heart blood vessels. It is positioned at the site of a coronary artery perforation and the balloon is inflated to expand the covered stent, press it against the coronary artery wall and seal the perforation while allowing for normal blood flow. The stent is a permanent coronary artery implant.
PK Papyrus was also a nominee of Prix Galien’s best medical technology award in 2020.
Biotronik won FDA approval for the device in October 2018.
