Siemens Healthineers won FDA clearance for its Artis Icono angiography system in September 2019. The system is designed to perform a wide range of minimally invasive procedures in a single interventional suite. It features a biplane system engineered for neuroradiology and abdominal imaging, and a floor-mounted, single-plane system for vascular, interventional cardiology, surgical and oncology procedures.
In October, Siemens Healthineers entered the robotics space with a $1 billion buy of Corindus Vascular and its robot-assisted device for coronary and peripheral vascular procedures.
Siemens Healthineers in November 2019 won FDA clearance for its Somatom Xcite premium single-source computed tomography scanner with the myExam Companion user interface concept. The interface is designed to guide users through the exam workflow with precise questions about the patient, enabling optimization of the Somatom Xcite’s features.
Siemens Healthineers announced FDA clearance of the YSIO X.pree, a ceiling-mounted radiography system, in October 2020.
The company’s R&D spending for its 2020 fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 2020, was $1.629 billion, including $412 million in its fourth quarter.
