Medtronic: Percept deep brain stimulation system
Medtronic is planning to launch its Percept deep brain stimulation (DBS) system this year. The device secured CE Mark approval in January.
Its BrainSense technology senses and records brain signals while delivering DBS therapy to people with neurological disorders, according to Medtronic. The neurostimulator is designed to treat symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, primary dystonia, epilepsy and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Medtronic launched the Percept PC neurostimulator in Western Europe on Jan. 15. The company is anticipating U.S. approval during the summer.
Update: The device gained FDA approval in June 2020.
