Trelleborg said that its Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business agreed to acquire Specialty Silicone Fabricators for an undisclosed amount.
Tustin, Calif.-based SSF, which makes high-precision silicone components for medical device OEMs, has plants in Tustin, Paso Robles, Calif., and Elk Rapids, Mich., Trelleborg said. SSF posted sales of about $39.1 million last year (SEK330 million).
The Swedish polymer engineering giant said the bolt-on, expected to close during the second quarter, is part of its plan to focus on “attractive market segments.”
“I am delighted to announce this acquisition. SSF is a leading player in silicone products for the U.S. market, with a strong reputation, track record and an attractive base of OEM customers. The acquired company differentiates itself by focusing on advanced, challenging applications and by providing support and value to the customer from initial design – a similar positioning and approach to Trelleborg,” Trelleborg Sealing Solutions president Claus Barsøe said in prepared remarks.
The transaction is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2016.
