Dr. Tom Price, HHS Secretary
An orthopedic surgeon by training, Price was one of the most vocal critics of the Affordable Care Act during his years as a GOP congressman representing a suburban district outside Atlanta.
During Senate confirmation hearings, Price stressed deregulation and helping to ensure that people have “access” to healthcare. His bio on the Department of Health and Human Services’s website says he “remains a fierce advocate for a patient-centered health care system that adheres to 6 key principles: affordability, accessibility, quality, choices, innovation and responsiveness.”
During the confirmation process, Price drew scrutiny over the timing of some of his investments.
