Dr. Francis Collins, NIH administrator
Trump in January decided to have Dr. Francis Collins stay on as administrator of the National Institutes of Health, at least for now. Appointed by former President Barack Obama in 2009, Collins is a physician-geneticist distinguished by his leadership of the international Human Genome Project during the 1990s. Over the years, he’s also developed a reputation as a devout Christian and proponent of the idea that religion is compatible with widely accepted scientific theories such as evolution.
