Trumpf touting laser cutting, welding and marking tech

January 17, 2017 By Danielle Kirsh

Trumpf will highlight laser cutting, welding and marking technologies, ideal for the intricate requirements of medical device manufacturing, at Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) West 2017.

Trumpf will show the TruMicro Mark 2000, the first fully-integrated ultrashort pulse laser for marking, which was recently introduced to the North American market. The laser’s ultrashort pulses make it possible to mark metals with a particularly deep black color and with virtually no heat-affected zone (HAZ). This “cold processing” enables fabricators to mark the material in a way that will always remain corrosion-free, saving both time and money traditionally required for refinishing. In addition, the ultrashort pulses enable the TruMicro Mark 20000 to mark chromed plastic surfaces without removing any plastic.

In medical applications where product labeling and traceability are essential, TruMark lasers offer unmatched results. At MD&M West, Trumpf will demonstrate the capabilities of the TruMark 5020 with the VisionLine Mark image processing software in a TruMark Station 5000. This fiber laser marker impresses with its high pulse frequencies and superior pulse-to-pulse stability making it the ideal solution for metal or plastic applications where high speed and superior edge quality are required. Its modular design makes this laser ideally suited for a TruMark workstation, such as the TruMark Station 5000, or can be easily integrated into existing production lines. Telediagnostics makes it possible to maintain the fiber marking laser remotely with comfort and security. For this purpose, the TruMark 5020 comes with integrated laser power measurement and laser power calibration – features that have been proven to maintain laser marking consistency.

The TruMicro Mark 2000 and the TruMark 5020 are just two examples of the highly flexible and precise lasers which comprise Trumpf’s extensive laser product portfolio. With such a wide range of capabilities to turn to, it is easy to find a solution to best meet the special demands of medical device manufacturing applications. All Trumpf products are built for the demands of an industrial environment, ensuring reliability in spot or seam welding, cutting of fine contours, plastic welding, precision cutting of stents, and other applications.
