No more swallowing capsules to take your medication. You can just inhale it instead!
HT&T Presspart, a manufacturer of components for metered dose inhalers (MDIs), collaborated with Hovione Technology to develop a capsule-based dry powder inhaler (DPI).
Four components make up the device: a hinged lid, a mouthpiece, a tray made from transparent plastic for visual feedback of the taken dose, and the body which carries the blades.
A capsule is inserted into the device’s tray. The capsule is not crushed but sliced open on the top and bottom while the PowdAir Plus’s tray is pushed into the device.
Once the capsule is sliced open, patients can open the lid, make contact with the mouthpiece, and inhale their medication.
