In December 2015, Boston Consulting Group ranked the 50 most innovative global companies and isolated key traits associated with success in innovation, two of which are speed and lean innovation:

“Creative functions such as new product development are never 100% efficient, and they involve a certain amount of trial, error, and, inevitably, failure… To overcome these challenges and remain competitive in this dynamic market, companies need a new approach to product development that simultaneously improves quality, enhances speed, and controls costs. As Martin Winterkorn, CEO of Volkswagen, put it recently, ‘It’s no longer all about bigger, higher, further. Now, it’s about being leaner, faster, more efficient.’”

Companies can improve their product’s speed to market by 1) creating and aligning efficient cross-functional teams to simultaneously execute on a shared vision, and 2) employing lean innovation strategies to reduce waste and maximize efficiency. This interactive session will feature case histories and takeaways from Prabodh Mathur, a 25-year medical device development veteran and current Chief Product Development Officer at Axonics Modulation Technologies, and Stuart Karten, President of product innovation consultancy Karten Design, who have designing and developing medical technologies together for more than two decades.

Attendees will discover:

  • Insights on creating a highly capable team and communicating a compelling vision that rallies team members around critical product development objectives
  • Lean innovation strategies that empower companies to make decisions quickly and expedite product development
  • Tools and strategies for successfully aligning cross-functional team members, including R&D, engineering, regulatory, clinical, marketing, design research, and industrial design
