The RNS helps add safety to profiled syringes with a staked needle. It also helps ensure the integrity of injectable drug products.
“Pharmaceutical companies continue to look for drug packaging and delivery solutions that offer safety, efficiency and an improved experience for patients and care providers alike,” said Mike Schaefers, VP of global product management and marketing operations at West. “As a trusted partner to the world’s top pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, West understands the important role that component and delivery system technologies play in helping to improve patient outcomes. We’re proud to provide the West RNS as an offering that helps support the safe, effective delivery of injectable medicines to patients around the world.”
RNS are syringe caps that combine the sealing properties of soft rubber shields with rigidity of a medical-grade polypropylene cover. Each RNS reduces needle tip damage when the RNS is removed from a profiled syringe. The whole RNS is made from elastomers that are designed specifically for prefilled applications.
West’s RNS comes in two size options – 1/2 in. and 5/8 in. – for a varying range of syringe needles. It is also less susceptible to frosting and blooming and has a high resistance to ozone cracking. It is compatible with steam, gamma and EtO sterilization.
