Waukegan, Ill. — Yaskawa Electric announces the release of two companion products; the MP2200, the most powerful machine controller in the MP2000 series, and MotionWorks version 6, the latest generation of programming software.
MP2000 machine controllers synchronize sequence control and motion control in one tightly integrated platform. Position, speed, torque, and phase control such as electronic gearing and electronic cam profiles are available for complex motion. The open, high speed motion network, Mechatrolink-II, controls Sigma II and Sigma III amplifiers, inverters, and I/O blocks at 10 Mbps. Rotary, linear, and direct drive servomotors are available in 110, 230, and 480 VAC options.
The controller’s modular design can be self-configured to reduce setup time by automatically recognizing networked amplifiers and option modules.
Our newest addition, the MP2200, expands on the capabilities of the MP2300 by providing a larger, more configurable rack system with 9 slots. Other extended features of the MP2200 include: 233 MHz CPU, removable Compact Flash memory, USB serial interface, and the ability to control up to 256 axes.
Accompanying the MP2200 release is MotionWorks version 6: a well-crafted programming platform, aimed at empowering engineers with the tools needed to make great machinery. Programs can be written in a combination of three IEC61131-3 style languages: ladder logic, structured text, and function blocks. MotionWorks includes an expansive instruction pallet providing over 150 commands, which incorporate tag-based data, making the languages powerful, yet easy to master. All machine data is conveniently organized to facilitate the transfer of factory level data to the front office with a few simple keystrokes. Most important, the layout quickly guides both new and experienced users to all features of the development environment.
