Inspire’s pacemaker-like implant provides a sleep apnea alternative to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines in short supply due to the massive Philips Respironics recall. In 2024, Inspire secured a CE mark under the EU’s Medical Device Regulation and won FDA approval for its Inspire V therapy system, but also had a Class I recall of Inspire IV implantable pulse generators due to a manufacturing defect.
