Master Bond LED405Med is a no-mix system that cures fully tack-free upon exposure to a 405 nm wavelength light source without any oxygen inhibition. It contains a nanosilica filler which results in a lower shrinkage upon cure, as well as greater dimensional stability. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is 35-40 in/in x 10-6/°C. This compound cures to a hardness of 65-75 Shore D, indicating that it is not too stiff, thereby offering good toughness.
Optically clear, with a refractive index of 1.50, this adhesive offers excellent light transmission properties. LED405Med is an electrically insulative system featuring a high volume resistivity of more than 1014 ohm-cm and a low dielectric constant of 4.2 at 60 Hz. It has good flowability with a viscosity of 2,000-8,000 cps and can be used for bonding, sealing and coating. LED405Med cures up to 0.125 inch thick and is suitable for small encapsulations involving optical assemblies or other sensitive components.
Watch this video to see how to apply and cure LED405Med. LED curing adhesives typically cure in 30-45 seconds under a light source of 405 nm wavelength. Be aware that multiple factors such as intensity of the lamp (ideally light intensity should be 1-4 watts/cm2), distance from the lamp to the adhesive layer, thickness of an adhesive layer and level of substrate transparency will affect the cure time.
You will know once LED405Med adhesive is fully cured because it will form hard and non-tacky surface.
