Moving magnet voice coil linear actuators have acceleration to 20 gs, zero cogging, resolution to 8.3 µm/m (0.0001 in. /ft), repeatability to 5 µm (0.0002 in.), and long life. Ideal applications include mirror tilt and focusing, laser beam steering, position control, and Z axis for pick-and-place equipment. Other suitable applications are robotics, testing, medical diagnostic probes, and hermetically sealed cryo cooler actuators.
The actuators are small and have a high force-to-weight ratio. Standard sizes have stroke lengths from 3.8mm (0.15 in.) to 76.2mm (3.00 in.), continuous force to 80 N (25.0 lbs), and peak force to 240.3 N (75.0 lbs).
