Nelson Labs said today that it has launched a program to make it easier for mask and respirator buyers to verify product testing and performance.
Salt Lake City, Utah-based Nelson Labs cited the proliferation of fraudulent personal protective equipment throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, saying the Nelson Lab Mark will help hospitals, municipalities, commercial buyers and consumers buy with confidence.
“With varying regulatory requirements and amended qualifications during COVID-19, it is difficult for today’s consumers to discern legitimate products from those that have not been adequately tested,” Nelson Labs Chair Jeffery Nelson said in a news release. “The Nelson Labs Mark addresses this critical need for increased transparency by providing objective, verifiable performance data from our world-class laboratories.”
Buyers can look for “Nelson Labs Tested” or “Nelson Labs Verified” on product packaging and marketing, along with a listing for online performance test reports.
Nelson Labs will start with verification of masks and respirators and may later expand to other products.
