Powerbox, one of Europe’s largest power supply companies introduces the EXM30 series of 30W external wall plug adaptors. With an input range of 85 – 264 VAC (reduced power below 100 VAC) and output of 12, 15 or 24 VDC the series covers a large number of applications.
“When designing the EXM30 series we aimed high. The low leakage current requirements for type CF and critical care applications, the water ingress protection requirements of critical medical facility and home care applications, very high ambition for life expectancy, power losses, high peak power, etc., and a desire to have one standard unit for global use, were all on the list. Less than 10 µA leakage current, IP 21 protection, Homecare 60601-1-11 approval, 88 % efficiency, 440,000h MTBF, 85-264VAC input voltage, and a design with interchangeable AC plugs shows that we succeeded,” said Martin Fredmark, VP of Product Management.
The component lean flyback topology is housed in a compact designer enclosure with exchangeable AC plugs, class II isolation, and IP 21 protection. Although referred to as a 30 W unit, nominal power is 36 W and peak power an impressive 45 W (considerably more for very short periods). Built in intelligent over temperature protection adds to both expected life and operation reliability. The uniquely low no load input power of less than 0,2W is another contributor to reduced energy consumption and reduced stress over time.
The EXM30 series can be a money saver in many ways. It’s impressive price/performance ratio makes it a winner already day one for the really demanding applications. Also for other applications the low energy losses, long life expectancy, reliability in-use, and overload resilience might generate considerable savings over time.
