XL Precision Technologies (XL-PT) has announced a major capital investment to expand facilities in the first quarter of 2021.
At the primary manufacturing site in Stockton-on-Tees (UK), XL-PT has signed the lease to the adjacent building, which will add 17,400 ft2 of floor space to the existing capacity. Occupancy is expected within three months. XL-PT expects the expansion will enable a boost in its process flow using a mix of specialized, high-technology manufacturing cells, the company said in a news release.
XL-PT’s laser technology center will increase in floor space by 2.5 times, and a new custom-built, automated and validated cleaning system for medical devices will triple the current throughput. A dedicated material management system will boost capacity for specialist medical-grade tubing, and the additional floor space will improve the facilities for hosting customers and internal meetings. Environmental controls and waste management will enable the recycling of approximately 70% of consumables.
In the U.S., the company’s West Chester, Pa., facility will be almost doubled with plans to add floor space and install equipment by May 2021.
XL-PT said it plans to retain its existing team and recruit more staff in both territories.
