The expansion added 45,000 square feet – including four additional ISO Class 7 cleanrooms – to VistaMed’s existing plant in Carrick-on-Shannon. The project enables VistaMed to better meet demand when it comes to contract manufacturing of catheter-based minimally invasive medical devices. (VistaMed employees also got a new onsite gym out of the expansion.)
“This latest expansion is in response to the strong demand that VistaMed is experiencing for its products and services in the international minimally invasive medical device sector, specifically focused on catheter-based technologies,” said Patrick Mulholland, managing director of VistaMed, in a news release.
“The growth we have experienced over the last few years would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of the VistaMed team and our partnership with Freudenberg Medical,” Mulholland said.
Last year, VistaMed opened a new research and development center in Carrick-on-Shannon; the center includes a cleanroom for prototyping and first-in-man builds.
VistaMed is part of Freudenberg’s Minimally Invasive Solutions group. It has five product development and manufacturing locations in the United States, Costa Rica and Ireland.
