Flexibility, recirculating ball screw and bearings for durability, performance, and precision
L-511 stages come in travel ranges of 52 mm (2“), 102 mm (4“), and 155 mm (6“). They are designed with recirculating ball bearings for high-load capacity and durability at demanding repetitive cycle rates with velocities up to 45mm/sec and despite the compact design can easily manage loads to 100N (22lbs). The precision ball screw drive unit with 2mm pitch is nested in a stress-relieved aluminum base for the greatest stability.
Multi-directional automation tasks are sped up with the addition of noncontact, direction-sensing optical reference point switches located in the middle of the travel range. Noncontact limit switches are integrated as well, to protect the mechanical structure.
Wide dynamic range
The micro-stepped motors provide extremely smooth motion with a high dynamic range from microns/second to 45mm/second. To achieve the ultimate in control and positioning accuracy, the L-511 is available with a centrally located high-resolution linear encoder providing one nanometer resolution if operated with the MC Hydra controller. PI offers a large variety of controllers from cost efficient single-axis open-loop units to multi-axis closed-loop controllers for parallel-kinematic motion systems.
