Now, two virtual-assistant bots will help provide support to patients through the Accenture Intelligent Patient Platform. The Ella and Ethan robots utilize AI to learn and make intelligent recommendations based on patient interactions. The bots will be used for life sciences companies, patients, health care providers and caregivers, and are powered by Salesforce Health Cloud, Einstein AI and Amazon’s Alexa.
Both bots are part of the Patient Engagement Support solution, a digital health solution that helps patients with their ongoing healthcare experience, which includes attending clinical trials and managing ongoing treatment.
The Ella bot assists with reminding patients to take their medication and go to appointments, while tracking vitals. Ella can help provide a more personalized method of managing health in a way that engages patients.
Ethan is a virtual service assistant for health care providers that allows companies to engage with patients by better monitoring their activity and coordinating with care team members in an all-inclusive way. This includes providing recommendations on content and services that are provided to patients.
“The platform’s newest AI capabilities allow life sciences companies to make recommendations to best support the patient’s specific condition and lifestyle by gaining deeper insights into patient behavior — in real time,” said Tony Romito, managing director, Accenture Life Sciences. “With the inclusion of these new AI capabilities, the Accenture Intelligent Patient Platform continues to expand the value of using analytics and collaborative technologies to support the healthcare industry’s goal to deliver better outcomes.”
These two bots are not the only AI capabilities that have been integrated with the Patient Engagement solution. Other AI and process capabilities include:
- Onboarding Contact Center: provides intelligent-guided experiences on recommended steps to get patients access to therapy faster
- Adherence & Care Management Contact Center: AI recommends actions at the point-of-need to keep patients on their treatment plans with a more personalized experience
- Provider Portal & Mobile App: provides physicians with better patient insight and fact-based guidance on the content and services available to patients
